Robins

Welcome to Robins...

Year 1 is the first year of the National Curriculum, as such there is a more structured continuous provision environment where children are encouraged to further develop their independence. The children also have increased responsibilities as soon as they start in Year 1, both within the classroom and the school. An example of this would be our two School Council Representatives who attend meetings twice a term to put across the class’ views and opinions on the set agenda.

We have lots of fun in Year 1 with many exciting topics including learning about toys and games from the past and present in History and exploring different parts of the world in Geography. In Science, we look at animals including ourselves, seasonal changes, plants and everyday materials.

Our curriculum is also supported by fun and exciting, yet appropriate, school trips. We visit The Chiltern Open Air Museum to support our History topic of toys and explore our local area.
