ZEBRA CROSSING ON TOWN LANE / BROOKBANK
Recently there was an accident between a child and a vehicle on the zebra crossing on Brookbank (bottom of Stratford Drive). Those of us who use the crossing (for school, using the bus stop,
feeding the ducks, etc) have a daily battle with cars to get them to stop. But it's not just about getting them to stop so we that can cross, it's also stopping vehicles from starting driving when
we're half way across and slowing them down on a stretch of road which is supposed to be 30mph. It isn't safe and it's frighteningly dangerous for our children.
Please can you sign onto the link below which is an e-petition for a controlled (pedestrian) crossing at Brookbank:
We will shortly be holding a meeting at school for anyone who wants to get involved in a road safety campaign. This is for all, so we're keen to encourage local residents to come too. The plan
is to get this campaign in the local press, widen it to also focus on speed reduction along the main road and the crossing by the park, plus to include safety measures such as a barrier by the back
gate to stop children running out in front of cars. We also need testimonials from those who are affected by dangerous driving on the Brookbank crossing.
